Despite the many advances in tissue engineering approaches, scientists still face significant challenges in trying to repair and replace soft tissues. Nature-inspired routes involving the creation of polymer-based systems of natural origins constitute an interesting alternative route to produce novel materials. The interest in these materials comes from the possibility of constructing multi-component systems that can be manipulated by composition allowing one to mimic the tissue environment required for the cellular regeneration of soft tissues. For this purpose, factors such as the design, choice, and compatibility of the polymers are considered to be key factors for successful strategies in soft tissue regeneration. More recently, polysaccharide-protein based systems have being increasingly studied and proposed for the treatment of soft tissues. The characteristics, properties, and compatibility of the resulting materials investigated in the last 10 years, as well as commercially available matrices or those currently under investigation are the subject matter of this review. 相似文献

With the introduction of microwave pretreatment, the quality of nonradioactive in situ hybridization (NISH) using DNA probes on formalin fixed tissue has significantly improved. Even after microwave treatment, however, there are cases where NISH results remain unsatisfactory. Therefore, we tried to improve NISH by testing other buffer systems as alternatives to the citrate buffer that is routinely applied during microwave pretreatment. By using buffer systems originally designed for immunohistochemistry, we significantly improved our NISH results. Difficult tissue samples were more accessible to NISH using these alternative buffer systems and made the quantitative evaluation easier. These results may also be of interest for combined applications of NISH and immunohistochemistry. 相似文献

To examine geographic differentiation in Asarum heterotropoides var. heterotropoides in Hokkaido Is. in the northern Japan, in which two putative cryptic species have been suspected to exist, extensive and
detailed morphological research on 794 individuals from 44 populations throughout Hokkaido Is. was performed. Among the characters
examined, the angle between and tip shape of the calyx lobes and the supratecta of the pollen grains were significantly correlated
and were found in similar geographic clines. Among them, the pollen showed two discrete states in almost distinct distribution.
Multidimensional scaling analysis showed that individuals within each of the two pollen types had different trends in flower
characters. Consequently, we assumed a cline from south to north on Hokkaido Is. For the causes of the cline, the two hypotheses
were proposed, primary geographic differentiation or extensive introgressive hybridization between two distinct geographical

This paper focuses on the analysis and evaluation of resilience anchored in an economic perspective. Resilience, as well as
most of the benefits provided by ecosystems, is not priced on current markets. However, this does not mean that resilience
is of no value for humans. On the contrary, the interest of using an economic perspective, and the respective scientific methodology,
will be put forward in terms of resilience relevance for ecosystem functioning, and its impact on human welfare. The economic
perspective is anchored in an anthropocentric analysis evaluating resilience in terms of provision of natural capital benefits.
These in turn are interpreted as insurance against the risk of ecosystem malfunctioning and the consequent interruption of
the provision of goods and services to humans. For this analysis, we make use of a conceptual framework that identifies and
describes the different value components of resilience. Finally, we present an illustration that discusses the economic analysis

The first total synthesis of prasinic acid is being reported along with its biological evaluation. The ten step synthesis involved readily available and cheap starting materials and can easily be transposed to large scale manufacturing. The crucial steps of the synthesis included the formation of two different aromatic units (7 and 9) and their coupling reaction. We report the cases of two patients with head and neck Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) who developed local recurrences confirmed by cytopathology. Interphase fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis was performed for research purposes using centromeric probes of chromosomes 6 and 8, on cytological slides. Trisomy of chromosome 6 was found in 85% of tumour cells in the first case of MCC and case 2 exhibited trisomy 8 in 77% of tumour cells. In the absence of specific molecular markers, detection of trisomy 6 and/or trisomy 8 could help in identifying MCC. FISH analysis is easily and quickly performed on interphase nuclei obtained through fine needle aspiration and may be extended to the study of other relevant genetic abnormalities. 相似文献

Interspecific hybridization is known for triggering genetic and epigenetic changes, such as modifications on DNA methylation patterns and impact on phenotypic plasticity and ecological adaptation. Wild potatoes (Solanum, section Petota) are adapted to multiple habitats along the Andes, and natural hybridizations have proven to be a common feature among species of this group. Solanum × rechei, a recently formed hybrid that grows sympatrically with the parental species S. kurtzianum and S. microdontum, represents an ideal model for studying the ecologically and evolutionary importance of hybridization in generating of epigenetic variability. Genetic and epigenetic variability and their correlation with morphological variation were investigated in wild and ex situ conserved populations of these three wild potato species using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) and methylation‐sensitive amplified polymorphism (MSAP) techniques. We observed that novel methylation patterns doubled the number of novel genetic patterns in the hybrid and that the morphological variability measured on 30 characters had a higher correlation with the epigenetic than with the genetic variability. Statistical comparison of methylation levels suggested that the interspecific hybridization induces genome demethylation in the hybrids. A Bayesian analysis of the genetic data reveled the hybrid nature of S. × rechei, with genotypes displaying high levels of admixture with the parental species, while the epigenetic information assigned S. × rechei to its own cluster with low admixture. These findings suggested that after the hybridization event, a novel epigenetic pattern was rapidly established, which might influence the phenotypic plasticity and adaptation of the hybrid to new environments. 相似文献
